This email follows the recent Board Announcement about Board openings.
This is to announce the opening of two Board of Directors positions. Each position carries a minimum of three-year term. Please consider applying for one of the positions and contribute! Here are the details on this election, how to apply, and expectations of being a board member:
Application Deadline: May 30th, 2011
Election Date: June 4, 2011
Candidacy Declaration – Potential candidates shall submit their applications for candidacy. This can be done by sending an email with a bio or personal statement to CNE@nwchinese.org on or before Application Deadline. Any NWCS member is welcome to declare his / her candidacy. Write-in candidates are allowed on the election date, but adhering to the above application deadline is encouraged. This will maximize your chance of being elected by giving voters adequate time to consider your credentials.

Expectations and Responsibilities of NWCS Board Members:
- Shall commit to serve the “best interests” of NWCS.
- Shall uphold the highest moral standards in conduct at NWCS.
- Shall respect all NWCS members, in oral and written communication.
- Shall have the obligation to keep confidential all data related to NWCS.
- Shall attend regular Board meetings (held once a month) and special board meetings (called as needed on urgent matters).
- Shall review the agenda and any materials distributed prior to the meeting and be prepared to participate in the discussion and decision-making for each agenda item.
- Shall participate in actions taken by the Board as a whole.
- Shall not take administrative responsibilities unless it is appointed by the Board under special circumstances.
- Shall be expected to serve on committees. Board members may also be called upon to represent the organization to internal and external constituents for special projects, negotiation, planning, or communication purposes.
- Shall not take a legal action against NWCS as a board member.
